De-puff, detox, de-stress!

Gua sha is an ancient Chinese massage tool that was practiced on the body to release toxins, relieve pain, and move stagnant energy, or qi. The word โ€œgua shaโ€ roughly translates into โ€œskin scraping.โ€ Just like the ancient modality, modern facial gua sha can stimulate healing at a gentle scale and rate. Our gua sha stone is crafted from natural jade. Rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Gua Sha is a massage technique that encourages lymphatic drainage for smoother-looking skin and inspires luminosity.

Ideal for long-term sculpting results. It's best to perform gua sha on clean skin. Cleanse, tone, and then evenly apply the AVAM Essentials Hydrating Beauty Boost or your favourite facial oil to smoothen the glide of the gua sha tool and nourish the skin.
  • Neck: Starting at the top, gently sweep down towards the clavicle.
  • Cheek: From the crease of the nose, glide outwards across each cheek.
  • Forehead: Comb upwards from the center of the eyebrows to the hairline.
  • Jawline: Using the end of the tool with two curves, glide from the chin until the ear.
  • Under-Eye: With the narrow edge, gently stroke from the inner corner towards the ear.

Make sure that you cover each side of your face. Hold your tool with the curved side to your face and glide it gently upwards. Always smoothly stroke upwards in one direction 5 to 10 times per face section.

Use your gua sha stone daily to enjoy the best results. If you donโ€™t have time to use it daily, you can still experience the benefits of this healing technique if you use it two to three times every week. You can use it either in the morning or the evening depending on your schedule.
  • The act of gently but firmly scraping the stone against the face relieves any blockages in the facial muscles and stimulates circulation so that skin can function better.
  • The overall effect is a significant boost of blood and qi (the energy that flows through the body) to the skin.
  • Our face has 43 muscles that are used throughout the day as we make different facial expressions. Over the course of the day, our muscles can end up holding strain and stress and could use a good stretch through gua sha.
  • Gua Sha is like yoga for the face and clears out long-term patterns of facial tension while addressing aging concerns and breakouts along the way.
  • After each use, wash the stone with cold water and a gentle soap or cleanser to cleanse it of any bacteria.
  • Lightly pat dry or air dry on a soft towel before putting the stone back in the box.
  • Store it in a cool, dry place, or in the fridge for an added cooling effect. Storing it in the fridge is beneficial for relieving immediate puffiness and inflammation.
